C5T is currently seeking a Technical Writer for a challenging position as part of the large team supporting the Single Mobility System (SMS), which is USTRANSCOM's primary Command and Control (C2) system used to view requirements, plan missions, and track execution. The selected candidate will possess experience writing, updating, and reviewing technical reports, manuals, briefs and other publications concerned with work methods and procedures, and/or software installation, operation, and maintenance. The selected individual will use established principles, procedures and policies to document and manage deliverables for this complex IT program. They will write, update, and review technical reports, manuals, briefs, instruction books, catalogs, and other publications concerned with work methods and procedures, as well as installation, operation, and maintenance of software applications. They will also support the Program Manager in interfacing with the government Contracting Officer Representative (COR), government management personnel and customer agency representatives, as well as C5T and partner personnel performing the work. A critical aspect of this position is deliverable management, with emphasis on timeliness, quality, attention to the details, and clear, effective communication.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Develop documentation plan and development schedule for identified deliverables.
- Assist in planning, scheduling, and tracking documentation work to meet delivery dates.
- Manage documentation to ensure all deliverables are on-time and meet quality standards.
- Research changes to documentation and update existing documents, as required.
- Write, format, edit, and review procedural and technical information for technical and nontechnical users.
- Provide editing support for all document types, as requested.
- Gather and analyze technical and related information from various sources (such as demonstrations, tracking systems, meetings, emails, or phone calls) to document updates.
- Assist Program Manager in documenting program after action reviews (AAR) to ensure continual improvement.
- Understand and apply effective documentation development and maintenance practices, including the use and continuous improvement of stated processes, procedures, templates, and standards.
- Utilize available tools (e.g., UNANET, MS 365, etc.) to help measure and analyze program performance, and report to key stakeholders.
- Assist Program Manager with reports on program status to both customers and C5T Corporate leadership.
Qualifications:
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, required.
- Exceptional time-management and task prioritization skills, required.
- Technical competence in DoD IT programs is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology or another relevant field is required.
- 5 years' experience in technical writing and managing project deliverables.
- Experience writing, updating, and reviewing technical reports, manuals, briefs and other publications concerned with work methods and procedures, and/or software installation, operation, and maintenance.
- Ability to set project priorities, develop a deliverable schedule, monitor progress toward goals and track progress as required.
- Must be highly skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, etc.).
- Required Secret Level Security Clearance - The applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
- US Citizenship/Work Eligibility: This position requires a candidate who is either a current US Citizen or has appropriate paperwork to show eligibility for full-time work in the US.
